Electricity in Jamshedpur

JSEB ( Jharkhand State Electricity Board) is responsible for supply of electricity in Jharkhand state. Under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidutikaran Yojana (RGGVY), even remote villages have received electricity. This has been possible only due to zealous efforts of JSEB which has worked for improvement in infrastructure. It has commissioned new Power substations, grid stations and improved transmission lines and distribution network. JSEB is supplying electricity to residential areas as well as Industries in Jharkhand.

By October 2012, 10 ATP machines (Any Time Payment Machines) were installed for the convenience of consumers in paying their bills.Installation of another 30 such machines is in progress in other cities of Jharkhand. Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Ramgarh already have ATP machines.

Another programme which was launched by Ministry of Power, Government of India, is R-APDRP (Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme). This programme was launched in July 2008 and focuses on establishment of base line data, reduction of AT&C losses and fixation of accountability.It calls for up gradation of transmission and distribution network and also adopting Information Technology. PFC (Power Finance Corporation Ltd.) has been designated as the nodal agency for making this programme functional. PFC will act as a single window service under R-APDRP.
