Jamshedpur Mineral Resources

Jamshedpur is located on Chotanagpur plateau which is abundant in natural resources. Rivers such as Damodar, Koel and Subarnarekha flow through this region. Minerals like iron, uranium, magnite, coal, graphite are found in abundance here. This is the reason why Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Ranchi are home to many industries which are based on these minerals.

Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation will explore precious stone emerald in Hariana and Baranmuti area falling under Dalbhumgarh of East Singhbhum district.The state government has decided to provide license to JSMDC.
 
In East India, Jamshedpur shines as an important Industrial centre. Companies such as tata Steel, Tata Power, Telcon, Tata Motors, Lafarge Cement, BOC Gases, TCS, TCF, TRF, Tinplate etc. are based here. Adityapur is one of the largest industrial zones and there are around 1,200 small and medium scale industries here.

Jharkhand state leads in production of minerals. It is a leading producer of bauxite, silver, coal, gold, kainite and feldspar. UCIL (Uranium Corporation of India Ltd.) processes uranium ore which is utilized as fuel in nuclear power reactors. These mining and processing units (underground mines and opencast mines are located in East Singhbhum district (Jamshedpur).
