Jamshedpur Tourist Places

Jamshedpur is a mini metropolitan city with people of various cultures living in unison. It can be called as an industrial city considering that it houses companies like Tata Steel, TCS, Timken India, Tinplate, Tata Motors and Lafarge Cement etc. Adityapur Industrial Zone in Jamshedpur is a hub of around 1,200 small and medium scale industries.

In fact, Jamshedpur is the first planned industrial city of India founded by Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. Every year, his birthday on 3rd March is celebrated as Founder's Day. The city is decorated with coloured bulbs beautifully arranged in artistic patterns,in honour of the founder. 

Jamshedpur is surrounded by Dalma hills. Subarnarekha river along with Kharkai river make for a silvery border of natural gushing water. Picturesque surroundings have been the reason for film makers coming to this ''Steel city'' and producing  films like ''Udaan'' and ''Bubble Gum''.

Jubilee ParkThere are many tourist spots in and around Jamshedpur that one can visit. Parks and gardens include Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Bhatia Park, Jubilee Park (Jayanti Sarovar), and Jubilee Nicco Amusement Park. The children can enjoy a few rides in this park with water coaster and pirate ship for the adventure loving and joy of boating for those who love to just sit back and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Religious spots in Jamshedpur comprise of temples, churches and mosques. Sonari Gurudwara Sahib in Sonari, Sakchi, Bistupur and Telco, St. Mary's Church, Beldih Church and St.George's Church in Bistupur area and Sakchi Masjid  are places where people come with prayers and seek God's blessings. Temples are thronged by devotees throughout the year. Swami Ayyapa Temple, Kalibari temple, Parsee Fire Temple, Gol Pahari Mandir, Bhuvaneshwari temple are some famous temples of this place.

Jamshedpur Coin museum in Sakchi is  a place every coin collector would love to visit.

Those who like reading have to visit various institutional libraries in the city. There are no public libraries in Jamshedpur. SNTI (Shaivak Nanavati Technical Institute) has the largest library with books on varied subjects.
 
A number of  upcoming malls are awaited some of these being Bindal Mall, The Horizon Mall, Centenary Mall and Balaji Lifestyle Mall. Till then people watch movies on big screen at Eylex and go for shopping spree at Big Bazar at Mango area in Jamshedpur. Kadma, Bistupur, Mango and Sakchi markets are main markets in the city.

People also come for medical tourism to this city as it has a number of good hospitals and nursing homes. Important hospitals in Jamshedpur are Tata Main Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Brahmanand Seva Sadan etc.

JRD sports complex and Keenan Stadium are two big stadiums for the sports lovers. Mohan Ahuja Indoor Stadium is for badminton players and those learning the nuances of the game.

Nearby Gateways include places such as Galudih (44kms.), Satgurum (15 kms.), Ghatsila (45 kms.), Chandil (16 kms.), Hazaribagh and Mandu (195 kms.).

Lakes in Jamshedpur city are Jubilee lake, Dimna like and Hudco lake. River's meet is also a peaceful place amidst natural surroundings for enjoying picnic with family and friends. Sunudor Waterfall and Dassam Falls are ideal weekend gateways.

There are a plethora of Hotels ---big and small, elite and affordable. Fortune Park Centre Point, Ginger Hotel, The Sonnet, The Boulevard, Natraj Hotel, Mansarovar Hotel, Hotel Ganga Regency, JK Residency, The Wave International etc. are famous hotels of Jamshedpur.

Madhvan, actress Priyanka Chopra, actress Tanushree Dutta, film director and script writer Imtiaz Ali, cricketers Saurabh Tiwary and Varun Aaron, ex-Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri arjun Munda, singers Shilpa Rao and Rajdeep Chatterjee etc. Another name to reckon with is that of author Tuhan Sinha. Premlata Agarwal is the oldest Indian woman to have scaled the Mount Everest at the age of 48 years --- the first person from Jharkhand  to go on an expedition to Mount Everest.She received  the Padma Shri from Government of India in 2013.She is also the first Indian woman to scale the Seven Summits and has her name listed in the Limca Book of Records.

Jamshedpur city is well connected via rail and road services. The railway station is called Tatanagar. National and State Highways connect Jamshedpur with other cities and metros. Bus services are quite satisfactory. For local transport, commuters use auto rickshaw and mini buses. There are bus depots in Agrico and Baridih for local bus services. The airport at Sonari  is mainly used by chartered planes of Tata Group.

Last, but not the least, the people of Jamshedpur are loving and helpful. The government is trying its  best to curb maoist menace in the state so that safe tourism can be encouraged in the state of Jharkhand.
