Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is situated near Jamshedpur (10 Kms) on National Highway NH-33. It is spread across an area of 193.22 Sq. Kms. The sanctuary is known for its varied flora and fauna. There are 84 species of birds and 300 species of flora found in the sanctuary.

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for both flora and fauna. There are 84 species of birds and 300 species of flora found here in the sanctuary. Various species of trees such as Semal, Jamun, sal, Kendu, gamhar, Dhaura, Terminalias, mahua and Karam are found here. Animals found here include mouse deer, leopard, monkey, barking deer, giant squirrel, porcupines and sloth bear and many more.
Hanuman Temple and Shiva temple are situated atop the hill. The Shiva temple attracts many devotees especially during ''Shivratri''. The serenity and peace of the place encompasses you. Subernarekha river flows close by to add to the scenic beauty of the place. Subernarekha literally means ''streak of gold'' and is so called because gold was mined at ''Piska'' --- the place of origin of this river.
No doubt, the sanctuary is thronged by school children and executives from Steel city among other tourists.

The sanctuary was inaugurated by Sanjay Gandhi in 1975. It is called so as it is situated in the lap of scenic Dalma hills. Trekkers can enjoy a gala time here on the steep slopes of the Dalma hills. You can view animals in their natural habitats from small hideouts inside the sanctuary premises. There are varied flora and fauna found in the sanctuary.

Accommodation & Time to Visit
A convenient time to visit here is from the months of October to June. Tata Steel Guest house is available for tourists. Other lodging centres are those belonging to the Forest Department. Chandil Railway Station is the nearest from this sanctuary.Timings: 6am-5pm
